Unsurprisingly, many of Bristol’s fine eateries have adapted well to our new world of click-and-collect, delivery and takeaway food, demonstrating their adaptability and resilience. I’ve put together a list of some of the favourite food I’ve had in the last few months, and with Asian, Korean and Japanese cuisine featuring heavily, it’s safe to say that you’ll never feel a need to eat at Wagamama’s again. Now pass me that bao!
1. Tuk Tuck (Stokes Croft) – I discovered the City Centre branch last summer, and was delighted when the Stokes Croft branch opened earlier this year. It serves delicious baos, my go-to being the prawn tempura, along with yakitori (teriyaki chicken skewers) and plenty of other delights, or head to the City Centre branch for tasty katsu and thai curries. An underrated gem.

2. Jamaica Street Stores (Gloucester Road) – when news of their £10 Sunday Roast made its way to me I knew it was a must-try, and it didn’t disappoint. We were impressed by the generously-sized portions with all the trimmings and separate cups of gravy, and both the lamb shoulder and pork belly were cooked excellently. To secure yourself a roast you have to ring on the day from 11am, it took a few tries to get through but well worth it!

3. Dangun (City Centre)– when it comes to gyoza I’m a loyal Eatchu fan (see featured photo in header) however I was equally impressed with Dangun’s gyoza served with tonkatsu sauce and fried onions. Their Korean fried cauliflower and Korean fried chicken (Sweet & Spicy glazed) were both also just as good as when served in the restaurant.

4. Pizzarova (Gloucester Road)– the discovery that the Gloucester Road Pizzarova delivers was music to my ears, as the options on Deliveroo are sometimes limited for the Filton area. The double chorizo pizza is a firm favourite along with the classic margherita, perfect for getting my fix of fluffy sourdough pizza crust.

5. Four Wise Monkeys (City Centre) – from the folk behind Seven Lucky Gods (one of my absolute favourite spots in Wapping Wharf), I finally tried FWM this weekend and can confirm that the iberico katsu sando, the soft crab shell bun and the Korean fried chicken are all absolutely delicious.

6. Squeezed (Wapping Wharf) – if you haven’t tried a burger from Squeezed then make your way to Wapping Wharf pronto. Their limited menu includes great value meal deals including fries and fresh lemonade, perfect for enjoying by the harbourside.

7. Woky Ko Cargo (Wapping Wharf) – a firm favourite of mine, thanks to the generously filled bao buns, chunky chilli squid pieces and tasty noodle and rice offerings.

8. Boston Tea Party (Cheswick Village) – an absolute failsafe when it comes to brunch, my routine choice of fluffy pancakes with maple syrup and bacon was just as tasty as a takeout as it is in the restaurant. This branch would be a good option if you wanted to pick up a hot drink before walking round Stoke Park Estate.

I’d love to know any of your recommendations for tasty takeout food in Bristol.
