7 City Break Tips

Living in the UK we’re very lucky to have Europe on our doorstep, along with many amazing cities within the UK, and you can fit plenty of exploring into just a long weekend! Here are some ways to make the most of your next trip:

  • Create a List on Google maps where you can save places you want to visit, and add to it gradually in the time leading up to your trip. It’s really handy to see saved locations when you’re out and about, for example deciding where to eat lunch!
  • Book popular restaurants in advance. This is not something I used to think about, but it’s really worth considering for major European cities especially if you’re a foodie like me!
  • On a similar note, check museums or galleries that may be worth booking in advance. The most popular ones often have timed entry slots and I’ve dodged long queues due to pre-booking (sometimes even just the day before).

  • Get a Revolut card or other card that will enable you to spend abroad without incurring additional fees. They’re free and easy to load money onto.
  • If breakfast isn’t included in your accommodation, it’s a good idea to decide a breakfast location the night before to save time in the morning – you can get ready and head straight out and then mull over your plan for the day over food!
  • Public toilet facilities vary in different cities – it’s worth using the toilet at any eateries before leaving as it’s not always easy to find them while out and about.
  • Research the public transport options beforehand, in particular how you will get from the airport/station to your accommodation once you’ve arrived and are tired from travelling!
