I recently came across a list I’d written of all the new restaurants I tried in 2022 (new to me, not new to Bristol!). It seemed a shame not to share them as there were some wonderful places, so I’ve picked out my 10 food highlights from 2022:
- Snobby’s, Redland – one of many gems on Chandos Road, serving tasty Italian small plates and pizza in a cosy setting.
- Garden of Easton, Easton – if you’re a plant lover then this place is a must for your next brunch or lunch outing.

- Bristol Lido, Clifton – ideal for a celebration, dining by the water feels luxurious and the food is excellent. We paired a two hour swim session with dinner which I’d highly recommend.
- Paco Tapas, Redcliffe – authentic Spanish tapas, featured in the Michelin guide with good reason. Save up your pennies!
- Koocha, Gloucester Road – a fantastic vegan offering, flavourful Persian mezze.

- Los Hermanos, street food stall – head here for your fried chicken fix and sample their signature Hermanos Comeback sauce.
- Gruffletops, street food stall – if like me you wish that more of your pizza consisted of a fluffy sourdough crust, this one’s for you. Cracking toppings too.

Gruffletops
- Gambas, Wapping Wharf – traditional Spanish tapas overlooking the harbourside
- Bank Tavern, Old City – yes, the infamous roast with the 3 year waiting list – it had to be tried! We found a bit of a hack – in December they were offering a Christmas roast served on both Saturdays and Sundays, so without much difficulty we booked a Saturday! It was definitely really delicious and lovely to be in such a tiny pub, though if I’m being honest I’m not sure I’d wait 3 years for it.
- Paletas, street food stall – delicious natural fresh fruit ice lollies, perfect for summer. Can be found in St. Andrew’s Park and at events across the city.
